Alexei Zhamnov (born Alexei Yuryevich Zhamnov on October 1, 1970) is a Russian former professional ice hockey centre who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Winnipeg Jets, Chicago Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins.

Alexei is the general manager of Vityaz Chekhov of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

Playing CareerEdit

Alexei was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the 4th round (77th overall) in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. On April 1, 1995, he scored five goals in one game while playing for the Jets.

In the summer of 1996, Alexei was traded by the Phoenix Coyotes to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Jeremy Roenick. He was the captain of the Blackhawks from 2002 to 2004.

In the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Alexei traded by Chicago to the Philadelphia Flyers for Jim Vandermeer, Colin Fraser and a second round selection.

In 2005, Alexei was signed by the Boston Bruins as a free agent, but on November 5, 2005, he was placed on long-term injured reserve.

Alexei has been a part of three Olympic games, winning gold, silver and bronze medals with the Unified Team and Russian clubs. He was selected to play in Turin 2006, but did not participate due to injury. During the 2004–05 NHL lockout, Alexei spent time playing in his homeland.
