Bryce Salvador (born Bryce Chad Salvador on February 11, 1976) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman.

He was drafted in the sixth round, 138th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.

During his professional career, he played for the St. Louis Blues and the New Jersey Devils.

Playing CareerEdit

Prior to his NHL career, Bryce spent 5 years playing for the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

On December 16, 1996, he was signed as a free agent by the St. Louis Blues. He entered the NHL with a reputation as a gritty defenseman and engaged in three fights in his first 15 games. He made his professional debut with the Worchester IceCats in 1997.

On March 11, 2005, he was signed as a free agent by Missouri in the UHL during the 2004-05 NHL lockout.

On February 26, 2008, Bryce was traded to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Cam Janssen. On July 1, 2008, he re-signed with the Devils to a four-year deal worth $11.6 million.

Bryce missed the 2010-11 NHL season due to a head injury he suffered during the pre-season in a game versus the Philadelphia Flyers.

In the 2011–12 NHL season, he returned from his injury where he played in all 82 games, recorded a plus-minus of 18 (which became his personal best) and played in all playoff games during the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

On January 17, 2013, he was named the 10th captain in the New Jersey Devils history and the third black captain in NHL history behind Dirk Graham and Jarome Iginla.

Due to lower back injuries, he only played in 94 games since the start of the 2012-13 season.

In the 2014–15 NHL season, Bryce only played in 15 games due to a injury he sustained on November 10, 2014.

On September 2, 2015, he announced his retirement from professional hockey after playing for 14 seasons.
