Jay Beagle (born on October 16, 1985) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre who currently plays for the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Playing Career[]

Jay played for the Calgary Royals of the AJHL in 2003–04 and 2004–05. He then played for the University of Alaska-Anchorage in 2005–06 and 2006–07.

He played for the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL in the 2006–07 season. Jay had 10 points in 8 games.

In 2007–08, he played 64 games for the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League scoring 37 points.

On March 26, 2008, Jay was signed as a free agent by the Washington Capitals. On February 11, 2009, he made his NHL debut for the Capitals during a 5–4 shootout loss to the New York Rangers and registered three shots on goal.

He was recalled from the Hershey Bears due to an injury suffered by Alexander Semin in practice.

On November 17, 2009, Jay recorded his first NHL point, an assist on Matt Bradley's game-winning goal in the team's 4-2 win over the New York Rangers.

On November 23, 2009, he scored his first NHL goal, an unassisted tally against the Ottawa Senators.

On July 15, 2010, Jay re-signed with the Capitals to a two-year contract. On December 15, 2010, he was recalled from Hershey.

On July 5, 2012, Jay signed a 3-year extension with the Capitals on July 5, 2012.
